Nobody can tell you who will broadcast AFCON 2027 yet
Search for how to watch AFCON 2027 in almost any country and you will find a confident answer. Most of those answers describe the 2025 tournament.
Three separate arrangements lapsed at roughly the same time. The agency mandate covering international rights across more than eighty markets ended with the previous edition, and no successor has been announced. The master agreement covering Sub-Saharan Africa ran from 2023 to 2025 and expired. And the commercial rights tender CAF opened on 23 July 2026 covers the 2028, 2032 and 2036 editions. The 2027 tournament is not in it.
What is actually confirmed
Across the 24 countries we track, exactly two broadcasters have been publicly named for the 2027 tournament: the national broadcasters of Kenya and Tanzania. Both come from a statement by the chair of the local organising committee to the Kenyan parliament on 1 July 2026, not from a signed and announced contract.
Uganda's national broadcaster was named in the same statement, but in April 2026 it told its own parliament that it needed funding in order to acquire the rights. Being named as the intended broadcaster and holding the rights are different things, and we record it as the former.
The list that keeps getting reprinted
CAF published a list of broadcast partners around the qualifying draw in May 2026. That list names the partners who carried the draw ceremony. It attaches no territories and implies no match rights. It is nevertheless reprinted across dozens of sites as the definitive country-by-country broadcaster list for the tournament.
One further change is worth watching. Canal+ completed its acquisition of MultiChoice in July 2026, which places SuperSport and Canal+ Afrique inside a single group. Whatever the 2027 rights map turns out to be, a single buyer now faces both English- and French-speaking Sub-Saharan Africa, so it will not simply reproduce the last one.
